Troubled operator MyFerryLink has cancelled all services until further notice for “operational reasons”.

The company has blamed industrial action.

Its services from Dover to Calais were severely disrupted last week after its staff went on strike over the threat of job losses from its sale by owners Eurotunnel to Danish company DFDS.

About 400 jobs are likely to be lost after its new bosses said it would only take on about 200 staff when it takes over the lease of the ships on Thursday.

DFDS also confirmed it will not be honouring bookings made on MyFerryLink after the takeover date.

Spokeswoman Emma Batchelor said: “We have an agreement to charter two ships from Eurotunnel, but will not be taking over the MyFerryLink service and we would advise anyone currently booked to travel with MyFerryLink after July 2 to contact them directly.”
