Ashford Designer Outlet has awarded a contract to deal with all its rubbish to a firm which aims to recycle every scrap that is thrown away.

Countrystyle, which is based at Pluckley, and operates its own recycling operations, already recycles 99.7 per cent of waste thrown away at Maidstone's Fremlin Walk.

McArthur Glen, which operates the Ashford Designer Outlet, awarded its waste disposal contract to Countrystyle on July 1.

The centre's cardboard, waste paper and plastics will be collected for recycling, and general waste is sorted an recycled. Even food waste from the centre will be used to make compost for farmers.

Richard Lloyd, Countrystyle operations manager, said: "The awarding of the contract to Countrystyle is another example of our ability to provide total recycling solutions to the retail sector.

"With McArthur Glen so close to our head office and our expertise with other retail outlets in the county, we feel we can offer them an individual service without compromise."
