IT'S celebration time this week for North Street, Ashford, chartered accountants Magee Gammon. They have now been in business for a decade during which they have dedicated themselves to being a firm with a difference.

Their aim has been to be true business advisers as opposed to just number crunchers. The strategy has paid off handsomely with the firm growing from just three back in June 1992 to more than 25 partners and staff now.

Senior partner Jon Gammon feels that this is not only their strategy that has worked for them. His view is that Ashford actually has a much more vibrant economy that many people give it credit for.

He said: "We should all be excited and positive about Ashford's business future but strong strategic leadership will be required over the next 10 years if the town is to fulfil its potential."

Antony Tutt, who joined the firm six years ago and became a partner shortly afterwards, feels strongly that Magee Gammon has a bright future. But in his role as staff partner his view is that the town needs to sell itself to potential employees throughout Kent and that vocational training should be given the highest priority.
