A charity responsible for the public's access to the National Fruit Collection at Faversham's Brogdale Farm is on the hunt for a new chair of its trustees.

Brogdale Collections organises festivals and events, guided tours, education visits, courses, fruit-tastings and sales as part of its remit to get the public to engage with the world's largest collection of temperate fruits.

The new appointment will replace Alan Roe who has been with the charity since 2012.

And over the years it has become one of the county's top visitor attractions.

Tony Hillier, the charity’s vice chair, said: “The National Fruit Collection at Brogdale is funded by Defra and curated by the University of Reading. Funding is only for the maintenance and research of the collection on a scientific basis. Without Brogdale Collections Charity, the collections would be on a closed site with no public access or engagement

“Not only is Brogdale Collections an important charity, it is also a friendly and welcoming one. The board of trustees is responsible for managing a small team of first-class officers who are supported by a fabulous team of volunteers.

"I am confident that whoever takes on the role will find it extremely enjoyable and rewarding.”

The successful candidate will have expertise in leadership at a senior level as well as the ability to analyse statistical and financial data - as well as the ability to command the respect of others.

The job would involve committing around one to two days a month - there is no salary.

Closing date for applications is February 12. For details and to apply contact vice chair Tony Hillier on tonyhillier815@gmail.com
