KENT Thameside Delivery Board has appointed Ian Lindsay as its acting chief executive.

In the new role, Mr Lindsay will take full responsibility for driving forward the regeneration of Kent Thameside until a new chief executive is found.

He said: "I plan to work closely with partners across local government, central Government agencies, the private sector and voluntary/community sector representatives to coordinate delivery of regeneration in what is one of the most exciting parts of the Thames Gateway.

"I am particularly looking forward to the delivery of our Fastrack rapid transit system, the first phase of which is now on site and will be launched early in 2006."
