Jobs threat to 45 in steel knock-on

ANOTHER 45 jobs are at risk as a knock-on effect of a Sheppey steel mill going into receivership.

A Queenborough business which was one of the suppliers of ASW Sheerness has also called in receivers. G & P Site Maintenance Services Ltd carried out steel fabrication, welding and machining for industrial customers.

The receivers appointed on Wednesday, August 14, are Michael Gercke and Bob Bailey, partners of Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Mr Gercke said: "We are keeping the business trading whilst seeking buyers as a going concern."
