Do you want to break into the journalism industry without the time and expense of a university course? If so, the KM Group's apprentice scheme could be the start you are looking for.

KentOnline, one of the UK’s biggest and most successful regional news websites with more than four million unique monthly browsers, is searching for its latest editorial apprentices.

It is a fantastic way to get a foot into the door of a highly competitive industry and take the first steps on a fascinating and rewarding career across a multimedia platform.

The scheme is suitable for either school leavers or students who have studied an unrelated course. Students who have already undertaken a journalism course are not eligible.

We are keen to hear from candidates from all backgrounds to ensure our newsrooms reflect the diverse communities they serve.

The job will provide real-life newsroom experience, working on both our print and digital platforms alongside kmfm, our commercial radio station, and KMTV, Kent’s first dedicated television channel.

The job will also be combined with remote learning at a leading journalism college and the successful candidate will receive a salary whilst also having their training course fully funded.

The apprenticeship lasts for two years, after which you may be offered a full-time position as a trainee reporter with KentOnline.

The apprentices will be based in whichever of our Kent offices is closest to their home, but will have the flexibility to work in other offices across the group.

Our apprentices have gone on to have fantastic careers in the industry. Some have remained with the company and now work in senior managerial positions, others have joined the likes of the BBC, Sky and ITV.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following characteristics...

The successful candidates will cover both local and national news

We will be choosing our apprentices at an assessment centre in August.

If you wish to apply, please email a CV and covering letter to managing editor Robert Barman at rbarman@thekmgroup.co.uk
