AMUSEMENT park owner, Thomas Holland, is the man behind a new state-of-the-art nightclub due to open in Sheerness next month.

The £500,000 venture will form part of Mr Holland's amusement complex on Sheerness beachfront.

Mr Holland started planning the club 18 months ago and the development required the six-lane bowling alley to be moved to the centre of the building.

Contractors, Tribune Shopfitters, of Sheerness, are currently installing fixtures and fittings.

The nightclub will feature three dance floors and two bars, catering for up to 500 people.

Facilities will also be available for weddings, corporate and other events.

Mr Holland said: "I'm looking forward to it, it's a new challenge for me.

"The club will be sound-proofed and we will be employing about 20 people.

"We will be open Friday and Saturday nights and our resident DJ has just spent the last two years in the Greek Islands.

"There won't be any garage music just a mixture of tunes from the 60s to the modern day."

The amusement park already had a licence to serve alcohol on its premises until midnight but that has now been extended until 2am.

Mr Holland, whose family are traditional fairground people, took over running the amusement park when his father died a decade ago.

His family first moved to Sheppey in 1958.

He has invested in property and public houses including The Goat in Sheerness High Street.
