GREEN is the colour of a new online advice service for business. The website www.egeneration.co.uk, backed by Kent County Council and Medway council, offers a free one-stop for firms seeking help with resource efficiency, waste exchange, waste minimisation and sustainable transport.

It is designed to help business cut waste at source and boost profits. It is backed by Kent Sustainable Business Partnership and other SBPs across the South East. egeneration has four sites, each covering Kent, Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex, linked to a regional "Business Learning Centre".

Biffaward, a multi-million pound environment fund that uses Biffa Waste Services landfill credits, is injecting £550,000 into the scheme. Registered users can upload case studies, materials for exchange, and company data for benchmarking. Suppliers can upload details of their environmental products and services. There is also a question and answer service on specific issues.

Kent County Council's Steve Rees, egeneration regional project manager, said it would become a model for supporting UK businesses on integrate resource management, waste minimisation and environmental best practice.
