Poll shows anti-euro gain

OPPOSITION to the euro has grown in the south east since the introduction of notes and coins across the Channel, according to a Barclays Capital poll quoted by No campaigners.

The poll asked how people would vote in a euro referendum if the government said the UK had passed the five economic tests and recommended joining the single European currency.

The results for the south east showed that 60 per cent were against the idea, up from 54 per cent a few months ago. John Keating, co-chairman of Business for Sterling South, part of the No campaign, welcomed the findings, saying it reinforced the view that "Britain is better off in Europe but outside the euro".
