MAKING a profit was the name of the game when Canterbury College hosted the Sixth Form Management Challenge Competition for local schools and colleges. The annual competition is a computer-stimulated business game run over several consecutive trading periods, the winner being the team with the highest cumulative profit at the end.

The challenges were typical business-making decisions, involving marketing and finance. Geoff Terry, Principal of Canterbury College, stressed that the day was an opportunity to develop skills that would be useful in future workplace opportunities.

Len Read, the East Kent chairman said: "I am delighted with the high standard of young people and the fact that throughout the day they appeared to enjoy themselves." Nine teams from local schools and colleges took part, with Chatham House from Ramsgate performing very well to come first just ahead of Canterbury College in second and Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, third.
