Re-born website looks for volunteers

A TEAM of volunteers is needed to help run Faversham's new-look website.

It is being completely re-developed at a cost of more than £10,000, and the finished product should go on-line in March.

Local people with an interest in computing and a willingness to use their skills to help the community will be crucial to its success.

Town councillor Peter Faulkner, chairman of the site's management board, said: "The new website will have a number of sections providing extensive information on local attractions, coming events, local history, news and business services.

"To spread the work and ensure everything is kept up-to-the-minute, we'd like to have individual editors in charge of each section."

The website is being re-designed by Faversham company Atoll, and paid for by grants from the town, borough and county councils, the South East Rural Towns Partnership and local businesses.

Among improvements will be an updated design featuring the town's new lion logo, easier site navigation, search facilities for events, businesses and visitor attractions, access to e-commerce and more for young people.

Anyone wanting to help operate the website, which will be found at www.faversham.org, is asked to contact Cllr Faulkner on 01795 530710 or e-mail him at peter@faversham.org
