A self-storage operator has transformed a city centre business park into a 40,000sqft larder for family junk.

Lock and Leave has refurbished Marshwood Business Park in Canterbury after acquiring the site in March last year.

As well as self-store space, it includes serviced offices and industrial bulk units along with a large car park just off the A28.

However, existing commercial tenants will continue to operate from the site, with the new owners branching out to try and attract new clients.

The new block of serviced offices and working spaces are aimed at start-ups and SMEs who want to avoid costly business rates.

Lock and Leave operations manager Andy Doulton said: “We’d been searching for a new expansion site in the South East for some time, and the Marshwood site presented itself as a real win-win opportunity.

“For Lock & Leave, there’s bags of potential both in terms of market prospect and physical expansion, and for people living and working in the area our substantial investment in the self storage operation will create a much-needed and valuable new service close to Canterbury city centre.”

The company already operates self-storage sites in Twickenham, West Molesey in Surrey and near Battersea.

It also offers document management services including archive storage, file retrieval and pick up, indexing, racking and confidential shredding.
