PHIL DAVIES: "This is a very exciting development."

KENT University will get a share of £250,000 funding from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

The cash boost will go to the University's Enterprise Unit, to drive the Great Ideas in Science and Technology initiative at Canterbury, Brighton and Surrey.

Under the scheme, anyone with a business idea linked to science and technology can benefit from financial support and practical advice, providing certain guidelines are met.

Head of Science, Technology, Enterprise and Management (STEM) at SEEDA, said: "The project offers candidates a real opportunity to achieve their creative ambitions, whilst providing much needed regeneration in certain parts of the South East."

Professor Phil Davies, pro vice-chancellor at Kent University, said: "This is a very exciting development in the University's plans to support economic regeneration in the region.”
