BUSINESS people are being invited to take part in a pro-am golf day to raise money for young people.

The Prince's Trust is hosting its sixth annual golfing event at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club, Bearsted, near Maidstone, on October 1. It will be held over the full 18-hole PGA European course.

Organisers hope that businesses will send teams, sponsor holes at £200 a time, and donate raffle prizes. The Kent Messenger Group is taking part and sponsoring two holes.

A professional will join each four-strong team, giving amateurs a rare chance to spend more than four hours with an expert. A Prince's Trust youth team will also take part.

The Trust hopes to raise more than £10,000 from the event, which will end with a charity auction dinner. A raffle will offer various prizes, including a trip in a hot air balloon.

Area director Ron Dunham said: "We're looking for corporate teams. It does give some of the smaller companies in Kent an opportunity to sponsor something in a high-profile event.

"This is a great opportunity to support the Prince's Trust, and help young people, many with disadvantages. We can help get their lives working in Kent. It's a tremendous opportunity and a chance to have a good day out as well."
