Smart move to keep it simple

A FAVERSHAM computer software company has out-smarted is competitors to win a substantial government grant.

Enabler Technology Ltd, of East Street, has secured a £84,210 Smart Award from the Department of Trade and Industry's small business service.

The money will enable the company to further develop a do-it-yourself software process that will let businesses refine their operations without always having to rely on IT experts.

Managing director Mike Clements said: "In the 1980s we were told that one day companies would be able to interact directly with computers and cut out their reliance on the IT department. Twenty years later the complexity is now worse than ever."

He said he aimed to change all that by cutting out the techno-babble and enabling people to refine their own programmes.
