KENT Police are warning businesses in East Kent to beware after a distraction theft in Sandwich.

Two men visited Direct Salvage on the Sandwich Industrial Estate on Tuesday afternoon on the pretence of asking about spare car parts.

One of them engaged the site owner about parts while the other asked if he could use the toilet which is situated next to the owner’s office.

When the men had left the owner realised his mobile phone, which was in his office, had been stolen.
