A new addition to Leeds Castle will be helping couples to ‘fly’ the knot.

Louis the owl has been introduced to the attraction’s birds of prey centre, and he’s already started some special training.

He will be helping couples on their big day, learning how to glide down the aisle and act as a ring bearer during weddings.

During the ceremony, the ring is attached to the owl’s anklet by a ribbon, while the receiver of the rings wears a white falconer’s glove.

Born in September 2013, the venue’s latest feathery addition is a Chaco owl, a breed which originates from Argentina.

A castle spokesman said: “Once Louis is settled in he will begin his training for free flying demonstrations, experience days and ring delivery for weddings.”

This historic castle, near Maidstone, is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring wedding venues in the country. Rising majestically from the still waters of its moat where black swans and other water fowl glide silently, the castle commands 500 acres of rolling parkland and gardens.

The castle and Maiden’s Tower, an exclusive wedding venue next to the main building, offer different options while the 17th century timber framed Fairfax Hall is ideal for larger evening receptions.
