Two men have been taken to hospital after an accident in Brielle Way, in Sheerness.

A silver Seat Ibiza and a Mercedes mini-bus were involved in the collision, which happened near the steel mill at about 1.35pm on Tuesday.

Fire crews from Sheppey and Sittingbourne were called and two male adults, who were trapped in the Seat, were released using hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car.

Two men, one whom is believed to be in his 40s and suffering with chest and back pain, were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by land ambulance.

The air ambulance was also at the scene and landed in the Gefco car park.

There were no passengers on the bus.

Police closed the road at the Tesco roundabout and motorists were advised to take alternative routes.

Traffic was queueing along the road from the Whiteways roundabout at Queenborough, which a witness said was mostly trucks trying to get to the mill and docks.

Police reopened the road at about 4.30pm.
