Kent Police are taking the operational lead for the Camp but Kent Fire and Rescue and South East Coast Ambulance Service say they are standby to cope with any extra demand.

Organisers say they will have in place provision for fire safety and first-aid cover.

Climate camp activist Mel Jones said: “We have doctors that are taking part in the camp and we take the safety of everyone involved incredibly seriously.

We have looked into fire safety and everything we need to deal with any kind of incident has been thought about. This is our third camp now and we are really positive that we know what we are doing.”
