Appeal after alleyway assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Gillingham.

The 53-year-old victim was walking through an alleyway near Speedwell Close just before 11.30am on Friday. A man threatened her and tried to get money but was disturbed by another woman and ran off. The victim was not injured.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 20 and 25, 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.

He had short black, curly hair, clean-shaven and was wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, black jeans and black trainers.

Police are appealing for the woman who disturbed the man, or any other person who may have witnessed the incident to contact PC Abbi Townsend on 01634 884136 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
