Two people have been arrested in the hunt to find the hoax bomber who caused chaos in Canterbury.

A 41-year-old woman and 52-year-old-man are now in custody.

It comes after officers released CCTV images yesterday of three suspects they wished to speak to.

Police discovered two sophisticated suspect packages which were deliberately made to look like pipe bombs on August 26.

They found one in a railway cutting in Old Dover Road and shortly after a fire alarm was activated in a baby changing cubicle in Marks and Spencer where a smoke grenade had been detonated.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Richards, from the Kent Police Central Investigation Command, who is heading the investigation, said:

"I want to thank the public for responding to our appeal and for the information that have provided so far. Based on some significant information we received yesterday we have arrested two people this morning and they currently remain in custody."

It remains a mystery why the hoax bombs were planted.
