A MECHANICAL digger was destroyed by fire at a waste disposal site.

Firefighters from Orpington and Sidcup were called to the blaze, in Cornwall Drive, St Paul's Cray, at 10.30pm on Monday.

They managed to put the fire out in about half an hour.

The incident is being treated as suspected arson.
