Flames engulfed thousands of bales of hay in a barn in Kent and caused £100,000 worth of damage.

The fire broke out in Appledore Road, Woodchurch, near Ashford, and destroyed the building.

Police also found that around 1,400 litres of red diesel worth an estimated £700 was stolen from the barn.

The blaze is being treated as suspicious and police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a beige or pale-coloured Land Rover Discovery leaving the scene shortly before the fire was discovered.

Anyone with information about the fire - which happened at around 6pm Friday - is urged to contact police on 01303 289180 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
