A MAIDSTONE man died from a disease caused by exposure to asbestos while working for an engineering company between 1957 and 1984, an inquest heard.

Domenico Nicolo Difolco, of Charlock Close, Allington, who was 78 when he died on April 3 at Maidstone Hospital, had already received compensation for the exposure he suffered.

The inquest was told that Mr Difolco, who was unmarried, had come into contact with asbestos dust while dismantling pipes lagged with the deadly material while working for a firm based in Bermondsey.

Mid Kent and Medway coroner Roger Sykes recorded a verdict of death from an industrial disease.
