A Faversham woman has been issued with an anti-social behaviour order after taunting a young man with learning difficulties and being abusive towards a police community support officer who challenged her.

Naomi Butcher, 26, of Finch Close, was arrested after the incident in the town's Lower Road and convicted of a public order offence by Sittingbourne Magistrates who fined her £90 with £150 costs.

The court also later imposed an Asbo prohibiting her from using insulting or intimidating behaviour or being drunk in a public place.

Sgt Dave Smith from the Faversham Neighbourhood Police Team, said:

"It was a good result and sends a clear message to offenders that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated."

He added: "The order applies for three years and, if breached, could result in a prison sentence. It shows how seriously both the police and courts take the problem."
