Ashford suspect bailed in murder investigation

An Ashford man arrested by police investigating the death of a Sussex farmer has been bailed.

The 40-year-old suspect was detained in the town at 6am on Saturday and taken to Eastbourne police station for questioning.

Julian Gardner, 53, was found dead at Bush Barn Farm, Robertsbridge, last Monday.

He suffered multiple injuries and police believe he may have been the victim on a robbery which went wrong.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: “Detectives investigating the death of 53-year-old Julian Gardner at Bush Barn Farm at Robertsbridge on Monday have arrested a man on suspicion of his murder.

“A 40-year-old man from Ashford was arrested in Ashford at 6am on Saturday and will be taken to Eastbourne Custody Centre for questioning.”
