Ashley Miller could be the next young professional to be given a starting role by Gillingham.

A lack of numbers in attack has left manager Andy Hessenthaler with few options ahead of the game against Barnet on Tuesday.

Both Danny Kedwell and Gavin Tomlin are set to miss out because of hamstring injuries.

Miller, who was rewarded with a professional deal when he turned 17, is now a serious option for Hessenthaler.

The Gills boss said: "It could be the Jo Kuffour-Ashley Miller partnership. It is something to think about it.

"He plays with no fear, a lot like the other young players Connor Essam, Callum Davies and Jack Evans."

Miller, 17, made only his second senior appearance after coming off the bench to replace Jo Kuffour on Saturday.

His Gills debut came in November 2010 as a substitute in the league game against Wycombe at Priestfield.
