A MAN was assaulted after challenging two men he thought were acting suspiciously late at night.

The 48-year-old victim was walking home from a pub along The Street, at Bredgar, near Sittingbourne, with his son at about 11.30pm on Wednesday when they noticed the two men loitering outside the Post Office.

The man was punched in the face by one of the offenders, who then pulled out a long shiny object from his pocket.

The father, who suffered minor swelling to his left cheek, and his son ran off and the two attackers fled off in the opposite direction.
