A YOUNG man was stabbed in the leg with a knife and hit over the head with a bottle after being attacked by three men in a Kent town.

The assault happened in the early hours of Saturday morning in Cromwell Road, Whitstable.

The 18-year-old victim, who is from Herne Bay, had left a pub with a friend at 12.30am before they were approached by the men.

After the attack he was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate and treated for cuts to the back of his head.

The man with the bottle is described as aged between 19 and 25, with short ginger hair and was wearing light-coloured clothing.

Police had earlier been called to reports of men fighting in Wheatley Road, off Cromwell Road, but it had stopped before officers arrived.

Residents had also reported the windows of two cars being smashed and a wall being damaged. Police believe all the incidents are connected.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01227 868283 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
