Andy Hessenthaler v Morecambe

Gillingham swept their way to a 5-1 win at Stockport and boss Andy Hessenthaler was thrilled at the way his new formation worked.

With striker Adebayo Akinfenwa out injured Hessenthaler decided to stick an extra man in midfield instead of bringing young striker Stefan Payne into the starting XI.

The ploy worked and Hessenthaler (pictured) praised the team’s hard work over the last few weeks which has seen them turn their season around.

Saturday’s win was their sixth in seven games.
