Baby seriously injured in smash

Police accident

An eight-month-old baby suffered severe head injuries after a car hit a tree in Challock.

The Fiat Punto driver, a woman from Faversham area, hit the tree on Buck street at around 6.55pm last night.

She suffered minor injuries but the baby was taken to William Harvey Hospital and later Kings Hospital, London with severe head injuries.

The road was closed for four-and-a-half hours while officers carried out an investigation and recovered the car.
