A MAN and woman have appeared before a court charged with child cruelty following the death of a baby girl from multiple injuries.

Ross David Hammond, 22, of Staner Court, Manston Road, Ramsgate, and Sarah Ann Hart, 18, of Royal Road, Ramsgate, the child’s mother, were remanded in custody for a week by magistrates at Margate.

Last Wednesday an ambulance crew was called to an address in Ramsgate where they found the baby with multiple injuries. She was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate where she died.

A spokesman for Kent Police said that the child's death was being treated as a murder investigation.
