Flooding in Holmside Avenue, Halfway

Sheppey took a battering in yesterday's stormy weather, which caused severe flooding in some parts of the Island.

Flooding hot-spots in Halfway, including Holmside Avenue and Western Avenue at the junctions with Queenborough Road, as well as people's gardens, were left under inches of water.

Parts of Halfway Road, leading to Sheerness, were also affected with giant puddles covering the road and paths and trees came crashing down in Plough Road between Minster and Eastchurch.

Two fire crews were called to a house in Vincent Gardens, Sheerness, last night after water leaking into a fuse box at the front of the property started a small fire. Firefighters dealt with the fire and called out engineers from the electricity board.
