Scales of justice

A biker who clocked 120mph on Ashford's A2070 has been banned from driving for 56 days.

Ashford Magistrates' Court heard Philip Williams, 26, of Juniper Close, Ashford, accelerated so hard on the dual carriageway his front tyre left the road.

The police officer who chased him took nearly a mile to catch up with him.

Williams has since sold the top-of-the-range Yamaha motorcycle, which could do 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, which occurred at 9.40am on May 3, on July 27.

The court heard on Tuesday he would lose his job as a painter with JR Cabinet Makers in Park Farm if he was disqualified.

As well as being disqualified, Williams was fined £200 and ordered to pay £30 costs and a £15 victims' surcharge.
