Be inspired by a new masterpiece

Be inspired by a new masterpiece

The views inspired JMW Turner to declare "these are the loveliest skies in all Europe" and the release of rental apartments in one of Margate's grandest seafront buildings invites a new generation to sample the Kent seaside town's cultural revival.

Standing just above the Turner Contemporary, The Arcadian building enjoys the same elevated panoramas of Margate's famous seascape.

"You can see why Turner was so captivated by this coastline and why it inspired him to paint his masterpieces," says The Arcadian's developer Geoffrey Berger. "The light constantly changes and the views stretch for miles."

The Arcadian is a tasteful conversion comprising 14 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Built in the late 1800s it was originally Lilley's Hotel Arcadian, a 19th-century bolt hole for genteel Victorians leaving smog-ridden London.

Its Victorian character and history is preserved by the development's careful replica of The Arcadian's wrought-iron balcony and hotel signage.

Inside, the well-presented apartments are spacious, with Victorian high ceilings and large, panoramic windows.

The internal finish includes hand-fitted kitchens and solid wood worktops. Some of the apartments also have private balconies.

Outside, the seafront and Margate's golden Main Sands are a short stroll away.

Available furnished or unfurnished, one-bedroom apartments at The Arcadian start from £450pcm, two-bedroom apartments from £550pcm.
