A MOTORCYCLIST was still critically ill in hospital today after his machine spun out of control and collided with a tree.

The 51-year-old man was on his Honda motorbike, heading towards Tenterden along Cranbrook Road, Sissinghurst, when the accident happened at about 2.45pm on Sunday.

Firefighters from Cranbrook and Hawkhurst, plus a rescue pump from Maidstone, were called to the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

The injured man was flown to Maidstone Hospital by Kent Air Ambulance but was later transferred to Kings Hospital, London, where his condition is described as critical.
