A 37-year-old motocyclist who died after crashing into a lamppost has been named by police.

John May, from Gorham Drive in Downswood, Maidstone was killed on Tuesday after his Suzuki 750 left the A259 in Sussex before hitting a lamppost.

The accident happened at around 8.10pm as Mr May and a group of bikers from Kent travelled towards Bexhill.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Gowran.
