Snow has started falling in Kent - with official warnings for the white stuff and wind for the county.

A swathe of gale-force north to northwesterly winds - accompanied by bands of rain and snow - are predicted for the region until 3pm this afternoon.

It's thought some snow could settle this morning in some areas - although mostly in high areas and only for short times.

A Met Office expert said: "Wind gusts of 50-60mph are likely in places, especially near costs, with 60-70mph gusts possible near coasts.

"In any one area, the strongest winds will last for only a few hours, clearing last from southeastern areas of England."

Met Office forecasters have warned of the likelihood of difficult driving conditions and possible travel disruption.
