A TEENAGE boy from Kent is still being treated for serious head injuries in a London hospital after falling through the roof of a derelict building.

The 14-year-old, of Columbine Road, Strood, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

He was said to have sustained multiple injuries after falling 20ft from the roof of a derelict warehouse. He had been playing with a friend at the former Kent Alloys International site in Knight Road, Strood.

Police were called to the site at 12.45pm on Friday, along with Strood firefighters.

They had been called to help the ambulance services enter the building, but were stood down 20 minutes after arriving. Traffic was slow passing through the area as onlookers tried to see what was happening, but the road wasn't closed.

The youngster was flown to the London hospital just over an hour after the fall.

A Medway police inspector who arrived at the accident, said: "It looks like he and a friend had got on to the site and were playing. One of them fell about 20 feet through the roof."

Police officers are carrying out an investigation into how the accident happened.
