TWO teenagers have been arrested following a fire at a Kent school which is thought to have caused thousands of pounds of damage.

The two 14-year-old boys were arrested after the fire at Wrotham School on Monday.

The blaze is believed to have started after a toilet roll caught fire in the first floor boys' toilets.

Larkfield firefighters were called to the scene and had to use breathing apparatus to deal with the fire which smoke-logged the area.

The whole school was evacuated, with pupils allowed back into class at about 11.30am.

Fire crews took about 20 minutes to put out the fire but stayed to ventilate the room and carry out safety checks.

Head teacher David Day said: "We took quick and decisive action to involve the police and asked for two suspects to be arrested.

"Wrotham School will always take decisive action when the safety of pupils are threatened. You cannot put a price on safety. We will not stand for any nonsense."
