The Tamworth Two have now become one after Butch the pig passed away.

The pair of pigs, named Butch (pictured left) and Sundance after the main characters from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, made national headlines in 1998 after breaking out from an abattoir in Wiltshire.

After a week on the run – spending most of their time hiding in bushes - the brother and sister were eventually captured and given a new home at the Rare Breeds Centre in Woodchurch, near Ashford.

Their adventure was turned into a comedy-drama for television in 2004.

Butch was put down on Friday after becoming seriously ill. He was 13-years-old.

A plaque is expected to be put up in his memory.
