POLICE today closed down another cannabis factory in the borough of Bexley after a raid on a semi-detached house in Bexleyheath.

Fourteen officers entered the property in Brampton Road just before 7am. They discovered a total of 190 plants in five rooms.

The large potted plants have a total estimated street value of more than £13,000.

The raid, called Operation Quest, also unearthed two polythene bags of ground and unground cannabis.

The electricity supply in the house had been dangerously rigged for the cultivation and officers brought in a specialist from the electricity board EDF Energy to make the house safe.

Bexley Police intelligence manager, Det Insp Steve Goddard, said: "This was the latest in a series of successful raids in the borough and it demonstrates that we will not tolerate drugs in Bexley."

Nobody was been in the house at the time of the raid but police are now working to track down the gang responsible.

Scenes of crimes officers have examined the three-bedroomed house looking for further clues.

This was the 28th raid on cannabis factories in Bexley since August, with others taking place in Erith, Belvedere, Thamesmead, Welling and Sidcup.
