Canterbury stabbing victim is named

Stabbing victim Andrew Wilby

The man who died after being stabbed at a flat in Tennyson House, Canterbury on Saturday has been named as Andrew Wilby.

His parents said their son was "known for his courage and zest for life".

Mr Wilby, 21, of St Stephen's Road in the city was the son of Anne and Robert Wilby who say they and the rest of his family and friends are shocked and heartbroken by his death.

His died from a single stab wound to the back in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two women aged 22 and 23 and from the city were arrested on suspicion of his murder.

One was released without charge while the other is on bail and must return to the police station on August 18.

Paying tribute to their son, his parents said he was deeply loved and had a generosity of spirit and compassion for all those close to him.

They added: "He had only celebrated his 21st birthday on June 14. He was vibrant, strong-willed and independent and was known for his courage and zest for life."

Mr Wilby also leaves a sister, Frances, 18, and brother, David, 23.
