A CAR caught fire after apparently colliding with a traffic sign near Blue Bell Hill, Chatham, on Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews from Medway and Maidstone were called to deal with the blaze.

One pump from each station attended.

The fire started just before 4pm.

The car is believed to have hit the traffic sign near the Lord Lees roundabout.

The male driver was dragged from the car. The Kent Air Ambulance landed near the scene.

It is not known how seriously the driver was injured.
