The sun shone on Ramsgate Carnival on Sunday making it one of the best for years.

With nearly 60 entries, crowds turned out to watch the parade as it went around the town centre and harbour led by Miss Ramsgate, Megan Duddy, and her princesses.

There were 23 carnival courts and half a dozen bands.

President of Ramsgate Carnival Association Roger Pearce said: “This was one of the best carnivals for some years and we’re very pleased.”

The carnival is co-organised by Roger’s wife Marion. She said: “People were going away afterwards saying it was the best carnival they had seen in the area.

“For the first time we had a fair and fun dog show running on Government Acre as well. This was a great success and many of the standholders have said they would like to come back next year.”

The Pearces are now retiring from organising the carnival and looking for new people to take over. Anybody interested can contact Marion on 07798 677140.
