Martin Jefferies and Kim Sanders learn to be croupiers

The scene around a roulette table can be a bit frantic which is why the calmness of a croupier can be curiously unnerving and reassuring at the same time.

It takes just six weeks to train as a croupier but there’s a lot to learn.

Phil Hudson has been working in casinos for four years and trains croupiers for G Casino.

He says: “One of the biggest thrills for the croupier, if not the casino, is when someone starts winning.

“The minute you get one person winning a big crowd gathers around and it’s such a buzz.”

G Casino has 50 cameras trained on everything from the tables to the reception desk. They are there to protect the casino and the gamblers and can be used to settle disputes.
