Taylor Wimpey will be showing off its plans for a development and a nature reserve just outside Maidstone this week.

It will give residents and community groups the chance to view the proposals for about 130 homes at Hayle Place Stud Farm in Postley Road, Tovil.

People will also be encouraged to give feedback on the plans, which are still in their early stages. Comments will be used to refine the scheme before a planning application is submitted to Maidstone Borough Council later this year.

Taylor Wimpey acquired the privately-owned site in April and is planning to create an extensive nature reserve taking up 75% of the 41 acres.

It would also provide £500,000 for the establishment and future management of the reserve, as well as a further £230,000 towards recreation facilities, health care provision and other community requirements in the area.

Taylor Wimpey’s Chris Moore said: “We are not just here to build homes – we are here to develop thriving and vibrant communities which both complement and enhance their surrounding areas and we recognise the importance of listening to local people throughout the planning and development process.”

The preliminary development masterplan for Hayle Place Stud Farm includes about 130 homes, 40% of which would be provided as affordable housing for shared ownership and rental.

The homes would be a mixture of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses, plus some affordable flats.

The exhibition takes place from 3pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 6 at the council hall in Church Road, Tovil.
