Farhad Mahmud and Danai Muhammadi - square

Three people convicted of killing three members of the same family in a devastating fire at Chatham Hill are due to be sentenced today.

Car salesman Danai Muhammadi, 24, murdered three generations of his wife’s family in a petrol-fuelled arson attack after their marriage broke down.

Former Upbury Manor school pupil Melissa Crook, 20, her 15-month-old son Noah and father Mark, 49, were trapped in the family home in Chatham Hill, Chatham, last September 10.

Melissa’s brother Bohdan, 22, and mother Amanda, 50, escaped.

Jurors found Muhammadi, of Britannia Street, Coventry, and his friend Farhad Mahmud, 35, of Fernhill Road, Maidstone, pictured, guilty of three murders and two attempted murders on June 1.

They are to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court with Muhammadi’s former lover Emma Smith, 21, of Barley Lea, Coventry, who was found guilty of three charges of manslaughter.
