Maidstone Crown Court

The trial of a woman facing charges of child cruelty is to be held outside the county.

Dawn Samwell, 40, of Upper Clapton Road, Hackney, pleaded not guilty to
two offences relating to a house fire in Kent in February this year
when she appeared at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday.

Judge James O'Mahony ruled the case should be transferred to Lewes
Crown Court after hearing an application from defence counsel, Julian
Woodbridge.

A date for the trial will be formally fixed on Tuesday, although it is
not expected to start before October.
Samwell was released on bail.
